Emptying The Inbox

Over flowing email inboxes are the bane of anyone who uses the internet (yep, I still have three friends who don’t, either at home or at work). The two most common problems are too many emails to deal with in the time you have or just leaving the emails there because you might need them later.

The latter of these can be solved very easily – just press the delete button. Unless you use a corporate network where the deleted folder is emptied every night, those emails are not really going anywhere and you can get them back whenever you want. You can create a load of folders and start filling, but there really is little need for read emails (filtering unread emails is great, don’t let anyone discourage you from doing that) to be kept around. If you want the email back just resort your trash folder into a different order (‘sent by’, ‘subject’ or ‘date sent’) or use the search function.

Try this and you’ll feel a lot happier when you only have a few emails to look at. (Oh, and if you’re using a program that automatically archives or empties the trash, turn that option off.)
