Comment – 80’s Music Playlist

After being asked by a friend to recommend ten music tracks from the 1980s for a party I lost an entire evening to the task.

The request appeared pretty simple. All my music is loaded into iTunes, much of it is categorised by the year it was released and I have rated at least some of it. Therefore, all I needed to do was bring up a playlist for tracks from 1980 to 1989, sort it in descending order of rating and take the top ten.

It wasn’t that easy for a number of reasons, but most importantly because the recommendations for a party probably shouldn’t include heavy rock music and dance tunes and hip-hop or rap. They aren’t really dance floor fillers. So I edited the playlist a bit to remove all the unwanted genres. Then I made the mistake of listening to the result and got sucked into a world of eighties pop.

Four hours later, after much singing and dancing around the study, I ended up with what is listed below. It’s not ten songs and I did manage to slip in a few of the tracks I said I’d avoid. Most of these you can find on Youtube, so have a listen and feel free to tell me what I’ve missed or how appalling some of the tracks I own are.
