The Slow Tomato Race – The Remedial Class

This week I got put, well and truly, in my place when it was pointed out that other people are already getting ripe tomatoes from their plants.

Week Twelve

Week Twelve

I had been rather pleased with myself. A week had passed and I’d only forgotten to water my little plant once. Sadly water alone is apparently not enough and my mixture of soil and compost is not the right sort of food for the little Triffid.

Part of me is tempted to get some proper compost, a bottle of plant feed and to re-pot the thing. Then again this could do more bad than good at this stage, or maybe the real damage was done in those early weeks when I forgot to water it for days on end.

Still, I do have six confirmed fruit and not all the flowers have died: only some of them.
